Outstanding accommodations in Trogir & Hvar

I am looking for outstanding accommodations in Trogir, Hvar or anywhere else in Croatia. I don't care if it is a hotel, apartment or villa. From what I have seen looking through the Internet is that there are many modest & clean apartments or hotels but nothing stellar. Has anyone stayed at any outstanding villa or hotel? I just saw the post that someone was so kind to give on www.palmizana.hr which looks like a very special place. I have inquired on booking there. I don’t mind paying a high price if it is worth it. My husband doesn’t take a lot of time off and if we are going so far I want it to be extra special. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

i think the most outstanding lodgng would be on a private skippered yacht for a few days that could take you to all these places and more.

we had to call palmizana directly since their booking company had not answered three emails.

august is a specially difficult month to get lodging but i am interested in if anyone answers with some additional possibilities.

We found very simple but comfortable lodging everywhere we went by simply inquiring at the tourist office - and in August no less. We weren't looking for luxury, however, just clean, cozy rooms. In Bol, for instance, the tourist office found us a hotel room for $40/night that regular guests who booked with the hotel were paying twice that much. It was nothing special compared to US standards but very nice for Eastern Europe - large enough, had a nice bed, bathroom, tv, everything. I think it was called Hotel Daniella or something like that.

Thank you for your time in giving such detailed information. I have been searching for days for hotels such as what teddybear has listed here. I am meeting friends in the Trogir area so I am still in search of accommodation there.
I am considering a yacht for part of the trip as well but I I get seasick so it might not be the best choice. I will continue to check back to see if anyone else has anything else to contribute.

teddybear -
Wonderful list of hotels I was about to post a question on where to stay in Istria.
I have contacted the one in Rovinj. Before I confirm with them I need to know which web site is more representative of what to expect. The first link doesn't great for the cost.

or

http://www.croatiaexclusive.com/hotel_angelo_doro.htm

Thanks!

I couldn't answer that question. The hotel was recommended to me by a friend who stayed there last September. She truly loved the place, especially hotel's small library.
It is unfortunate that hotel's own website is not more comprehensive

hi ggfinds,

i've been thinking about going to palmizana, but have only found 2 useful links:
www.palmizana.hr/
and
www.croatiaexclusive.com/hotel_palmizana.htm

i posted a message asking if anyone has been there, but haven't received any useful feedback. why do you think that is? has anyone actually ever been there?

We walked by Palmizana while we were on the island last week. I would never stay there. It looked so dreary, and noone was even eating there when we stopped by. Also this was our least favorite island off Hvar. You will be much happier staying in or near Hvar town.

teddybear - we stayed at Hotel Angelo D'Oro in Rovinj. Very nice.

We had a choice of two rooms, loved the big one on the top floor but that added 2 more flights of stairs. No elevator in the heat kept us on the 3rd floor with still a good view of the sea.

some friends just got back from palmizana ( i had forwarded them the info from here.. thank you)and they adored it.

it was quite the place to stay, the food was good, and there were cultural activities on at the resort most of the time they were there.

they really have encouraged me to try it out if we ever get to that area.
JFYI
