Our itinerary...you thoughts?
My husband and I will be travelling to Turkey in November of this year. We are taking a Eastern Med Cruise and one of our ports of call is Izmir on November 4. From Izmir we have booked a private guide for Ephesus for the day.
Our cruise ends in Istanbul on November 6. Our plan is to leave the boat and head to the airport. We are flying to Kayseri and then taking a shuttle to our hotel (Kelebek Pension) in Goreme. We have booked this hotel from the 6th-9th. On the evening of the 9th we will board an overnight bus for Denizli (Pamukkale region) We will arrive the morning of the 10th and will stay overnight at the Venus Hotel in Pamukkale. On the evening of the 11th we will board an overnight train back to Istanbul. We will arrive in Istanbul the morning of the 12th. We are staying at the Hotel Niles from the 12th-18th. Then we will fly home on the 18th. I would appreciate any thoughts, criticisms, input you may have on out proposed adventure! Donna-Lee |
Your post is filed under Turkey, but it will get lost in the general Europe Talk section without a specific title: Turkey Itinerary.
I am currently planning a trip to Turkey, but your itinerary sounds good to me, with appropriate time in Istanbul and Cappadocia. It's a long way on a bus to Pamukkale, but I believe you must be prepared for this and will compensate with a thermal spa visit (are they all open in November?) I wish I was taking a night train on my trip, I have less time and will be flying. |
why do not you fly from kayseri cappadocia to izmir and take a bus
to denizli pamukkale and fly out from denizli to istanbul. regards nejat incedogan guide Ephesus |
Hmmm... I never thought about flying from Kayseri to Izmir. How long of a bus ride would it be from Izmir to Pamukkale?

Your bus ride will be shorter than Cappadocia to Denizli. Depending on the company it might take about 5 hours or little more. Self drive is a better option which would be about 3,5 to 4 hours.
Happy travelling, Murat |
