Our Day 3 in Rome

Okay....this is getting so exciting...here are our plans for day 3. We are hoping it is not too much for our 3 lovely daughters. We also hope we haven't left anything out!

Campo di Fiore (Is it open on Sundays?) .....we will be here on a Sunday...should we make it a different morning?

Piazza Navona
Piazza della Rotunda/Pantheon
Piazza della Minerva/Bernini's Elephant Obelisk/
Piazza st. Ignazio
Santa Maria Sopra Minerva

Any restaurant suggestions?

What are your thoughts? Are we missing anything?

Thanks so much for your input.

One possible problem: your Day 3 is a Sunday and some churches limit tourist visiting hours at certain times because a mass is taking place. Many of your sights you plan are churches, so check opening times carefully.

Campo de' Fiori market does not operate on Sunday.

Given that and that churches limit visiting, I suggest you switch this program to another day.

I don't see how the whole program could take more than about four hours. You could add San Luigi dei Francesi with its Caravaggios; it's near Piazza Navona.

Unless things have changed again since last November, you'll find the Campo de' Fiori market open on Sundays - although with a slightly different mix of stalls to those there the rest of the week...

I don't think you will have too maby problems for visiting those places on sunday. Remember you are inside a sacred place, be silent and have respect for the people praying. Take with you something for covering your knees and your shoulders. I agree with Zerlina to add the Caravaggios. There are many trattorias around the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. I suggest you "Maccheroni" piazza delle Coppelle or "Da Francesco" piazza del Fico.

what Brit said - there is a market on sundays in campo dei fiori but it is the sort your girls will love - lots of cheap silk [allegedly] scarves, trinkets, bags, etc. great for cheap souvenirs.

if you want a steer to some nice but reasonable eating places in that area, click on my screen name to look for my trip report from our week in Rome last year, with our DS. from the piazza navona you are not all that far from the Castel san angelo and if you walk in tht direction, you will find any no of nice place, the best we found being this one

it was recommended by the owner of our apartment and it was really great - we ate there twice!

I agree this list of sites would not take a full day. You could add on a walk through the Jewish Ghetto neighborhood and across the Isola Tiberina into Trastevere. The #8 tram takes you back to the Largo Argentina. The cat sanctuary is there to visit or re-visit.

You should have coins with you to illuminate the Caravaggio paintings in San Luigi dei Francesi

It is hard to make recommendations day by day without seeing what you have decided on for the other days.
