Our 4 nights in Iceland, late October
My husband and I headed to the UK in mid October for a family celebration and our cheapest flights from PDX (Portland, OR) were through Iceland on Icelandair. We chose to stop over for 4 nights on the way home, stayed in a perfect little Airbnb apartment in Mosfellsbær just north of Reykjavík, rented a little 2 wheel drive car, shopped and prepared all of our own meals, and spent 3+ days exploring the Golden Circle, hiking, and soaking in hot water.
Here's what we experienced in a nutshell: Lágafellslaug geothermal pools in Mosfellsbær Álafoss waterfall and 120 year old Álafoss wool store and factory in Mosfellsbær Þingvellir National Park and the Skógarkotsvegur hiking loop Selfoss and Kerið Crater Reykjadalur valley hike near Hveragerð, soaked in the hot river Geysir Gullfoss Waterfalls Gamla Laugin (Secret Lagoon) in Flúðir Shore and Sculpture walk in Reykjavík Northern Lights Here's a link to my photo collection and to a blog post about our visit. Happy trails! https://www.flickr.com/photos/stacey...7687960953751/ http://hopefulistinotherplaces.blogs...0/iceland.html |
