Oud Bruin Beer
While we were in Amsterdam, my son and I had Heineken's Oud Bruin Beer. We both liked it. I want to get him some for his 21st birthday and need ideas on where to buy it. I live in Las Vegas (liquor stores here have never heard of it) and am wondering if you can buy it online? I Googled the topic but never found anything helpful.

Try BevMo, and if they don't have it, see if they can order it for you. Good luck!

Hi Blondiepopo - nice screenname if you speak German :-)
|
From http://www.heinekeninternational.com...act_sheet.aspx :
"Heineken Oud Bruin One of the most traditional Dutch beer types, 'Old Brown' derives its rich, dark colour and taste from its dark malt and hops. Natural sugar gives it a mildly sweet, caramel taste. It is only available in the Netherlands." |
You could try Newcastle Brown, which is similar to what's described here, and is exported.

If you know anyone going to Aruba see if they can buy it for you there.
What about Grolsch Oud Bruin, maybe you can find that? Or find a Belgian style brewery in the US, of which there are quite a few, and try their oud bruin instead, it is brewed in a different way but you may like it. Heineken Oud Bruin is low alcohol (2.5%) and isn't really comparable with Newkie Brown, which is also higher in alcohol (4.7%). |
Bockbier is better

"Bockbier is better"
True, but that's not what the OP wants. Plus it is a seasonal beer, so would be even harder to find. Personally I wouldn't drink anything by Heineken, but that's just me. |
Thanks for the info. I'll see if I can find a substitute. I had a feeling it wasn't exported. Sorry - don't speak any German. I'm blonde, and was a police officer (popo is slang, at least in the Midwest, for police) and hence the screenname.

Found the Newcastle Brown at Lee's Discount Liquor in Las Vegas (the largest liquor store I've ever seen). Will let you know how it is.
