other ways to get tickets to Alhambta

I have excuses, but won't attempt one. We are in Granada Oct. 8-10 and have missed getting tickets through ticket master for Alhambra. I also tried a tour company, isango, but was turned down just now.
Does anyone know of any other way to get tickets? I cannot believe this has happened.... cannot go to Granada without going to Alhambra. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Have you contacted the concierge at your hotel? They may know of a company with tickets available - but expect to pay a large premium.

ticadonnita Sep 16th, 2015 05:46 AM

Thank you, nytraveler. Our airbnb host said to try doble de oro on ticketmaster. Checking that now. Yes, my bad. It was 8 E. 2 weeks ago and plenty of dates open.

Those tickets sell out weeks in advance, about a month, you may be out of luck.

Trying to buy the Granada card (Doba de Oro) is your best bet, some of those are left after regular tickets are sold.

IIRC there are some tours that include an entry ticket to the Alhambra. See viator.com for such a tour.

I found a link to this agency on a Rick Steves forum. It is still showing availability, at inflated prices (USD $50):

If you are an early-bird I've read that standing in line a for a couple hours before the ticket office opens at 8:00 AM offers some hope of a same-day purchase.

Good luck...

Thank you for your suggestions. Yes, I know I made a big mistake, Christina, and thank you for idea about doble de oro . They do have some openings on Oct. 9th.
I will check viator.com , Mimar. Thank you
And I will check the link you sent, Nelso, as well. Thank you.

My guidebook (R.Steves, Spain 2016) suggests The Bono Turistico city pass - and to make sure there are available time slots before buying the pass. (This might also be the same thing as the Granada Card)

www.bonoturisticogranada.com

I'll be in Granada the same days as you - hope to see you inside the Alhambra.

Alec Sep 16th, 2015 08:25 AM

I suggest Granada Card. They have their own allocations and there are almost always some available slots. You book and pay online (for specific Nasrid Palaces entry) and pick up the card and Alhambra ticket in Granada.

I bought the doble oro and will be going on oct 9, so hope to see you, davispeets.
Thanks for your suggestion as well, Alec. I decided to buy as soon as I saw availability.

davispeets Sep 16th, 2015 12:29 PM

Oh good, I'm so happy for you. What a relief!

I looked up the "Doble de Oro" this morning to see what it was and saw that you buy tickets from ticketmaster.es website - the same place you buy regular tickets. There were lots of spots open for the 9th. I tried to post the link for others for future reference but the website kept freezing. Here's the link for anyone else in a similar spot:

http://www.ticketmaster.es/en/recint...ra-de-granada/

It looked less expensive than the Bono Turistico/Granada Card option.

so pleased that you got your tickets, ticadonnita. you are going at the same time of year as we did and we loved it.

have you also booked an evening visit? it's well worth doing as the Nasrid palaces are all lit up and they let in far fewer people.

Try ticketmaster again if you are interested.

ticadonnita Sep 17th, 2015 06:07 AM

Yes, davispeets, it took me quite awhile to finalize my transaction on the site as it keep freezing on me as well. It was less expensive than any of the other options. I am so glad I had other options. Now, I need to make reservations for other things to see in other cities along our route in October.
I am considering the night time visit to Nasrid palaces as well, annhig, as I have read how beautiful it is at night. We only have 2 full nights in Granada, so I am looking at a Flamenco that our guest host suggests there as well.
Once again, thank you all for your ideas and support on this topic.

ticadonnita Sep 17th, 2015 06:09 AM

Speaking of Flamenco, is anyone familiar with this performance? Sounds interesting and intimate in a cave.

go to the late night one, ticadonnita, and you can do both!

[though we did the night tour of the Alhambra the night we arrived in Granada - you could possibly do this too, and the Flamenco the next night].

LeanneSi Sep 18th, 2015 02:33 AM

Hi there

from my experience, the only easy way to get Alhambra tickets in advance is via travel agency. The agencies always have extra tickets available. You can book them 1 week in advance or so.
I thinks they're a bit more expensive than ''the official ones''. Last time I visited, a couple of months ago, I paid about 25€ per ticket.

annhig Sep 18th, 2015 02:50 AM

a bit more expensive? the official price is €15.40:

https://www.ticketmaster.es/

of course if you have missed out on booking in advance you may be prepared to pay €10 extra pp, but it shouldn't be your first port of call.

ticadonnita Sep 18th, 2015 05:49 AM

We arrive on Oct. 8th at 6:30pm, so maybe do the night tour on Oct. 10th, our last night and Flamenco on Oct 9th after spending day tour in Alhambra. Thanks everyone.
