OTC pills and vitamins on carry-on luggage
Is it necessary to bring aspirin, vitamins, etc. in their original bottle or wrapping when taking them on carry-on to Europe/back to U.S., or is it OK to just put these pills in a weekly (separated by day) plastic container without any written material about them?

This probably applies to OTC as well as prescription:

I toss a few of anything we take on a daily basis into one pill bottle. Never been asked to explain.

I do the plastic bag thing as well mixing several vitamins, herbals, aspirin, etc.
That said i was thoroughly searched at Customs returning last month - everything inspected, especially my pill bags with great scrutiny - i had even combined some benign prescription pills and was upbraided by Customs folks for doing so. But i had labeled each plastic bag with contents so it seemed OK to them. I had never been searched like this since my first trip in 1969 and have gone at least annually since - so about once every 38 years |
Do you look like a hippy?

Let's see - except for my pink granny glasses, peace sign necklace, constantly saying "Wow, man", and verbally referencing 1968 every chance I get, I guess not. Will this impact on my aspirin and Vitamin C bringing?

Groovy! I wanted to know if PalenQ looked like a beatnik and if that was the reason he got searched.
I would not worry about this..you do not need the original bottle..if you are truly worried, you can get a printout from the drugstore listing all the prescriptions you have and just bring the list along with you just in case. Not sure about the medical marijuana, though. |
You need a letter from the President on the medical marijuana. ;-)

Is that true? Or are you being facetious?

No i don't look like a Beatnick IMO - relatively ordinary. I think they were really searching for currency - after i picked up my bag three different Customs agents asked me how much currency i was carrying and each noted it separtely on my Customs declaration before i got to the final check out where i was red flagged for the thorough search suspected of exceeding the $10,000 currency import limit (can bring in as much as you want but have to declare anything in excess of $10,000)
When i got there the agents i heard saying were confused why i was flagged - could not find anything on computer like they suspected. So i think i was trageted in error. A beagle had already sniffed my luggage and everyone elses at the baggage carousel - probably looking for meat or veggies. |
