Oslo vs. Copenhagen

My husband and I will take a bus tour (first time, and probably last!) to Scandinavia in August visiting Denmark, Sweden briefly and Norway. We will have 3 extra days after the trip which ends in Oslo, he will return home from Copenhagen, then I will have a 10 day walking tour from Copenhagen plus 4 extra days for touring in Copenhagen. My question: Oslo or Copenhagen for the extra days with my husband and ideas? His preference would be for a farm tour outside either city, but I've not found a local guide interested in setting that up. We've had amazing tours in other countries which line up with his interests. Being in more rural surroundings is a preference either way. We will not have a car.
Thank you

We just returned from Scandinavia last week and I would recommend another option which is to take the Norway in a nutshell tour to Bergen. Fly Bergen to Copenhagen at the end

Thank you, great idea and fortunately that will be included in our tour, I did just read Russ's review of Scandinavia, so well planned. A car would make many ideas easier but won't be possible. As you're enjoying your travels now, what is your sense of the 2 areas as options? Would an overnight ferry return to Copenhagen add to our experiences?

Copenhagen and visit the boat museum at Roskilde

Since you will be seeing more of Copenhagen stay a few days longer in Oslo. News reports recommend the redone waterfront: https://www.visitoslo.com/en/article...our-promenade/

I assume that the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History still exists, and within walking distance there is the Viking Ship Museum, the Kon-Tiki museum (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kon-Tiki_Museum ) and next door the Fram Museum (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fram_Museum )

How brief is your visit to Sweden? What does it include & can you add more days there since you’ve got quite a few days already in Copenhagen? Outside of Stockholm it’s all rural with farms everywhere.

Surprisingly, I hadn't thought of that just due to travel time and limited days. Now I'll be looking into that! Thank you!

Thank you, that's on my list now...

The photos make me wish to be there, now! I've researched the location for those sites and timing involved but have also read mixed reviews on the cultural museum. It should be an interesting look at times past. Thank you.

How exactly are you doing Norway?

We are on a bus tour that includes 9 days in Norway, most of which are spent on the Norway in a Nutshell portion.

Michael gave you some good suggestions of places to visit on Bygdøy in Oslo. Having Norwegian ancestry, I was fascinated with the museums there. Other things to see in Oslo include the Munch museum, the Akershus Fortress on the waterfront, and if interested in skiing, the Holmenkollen ski jump and it’s small museum. I also enjoyed a cruise on the Oslo Fjord, and a stroll through Frogner Park with its Vigeland sculptures.

Thank you, a few of those locations we are to visit on tour, but guessing there are just drive by visits for many. Glad to hear you think they are worthwhile to actually spend time there. I'm thinking we might stay near Oslo and take an overnight ferry back to Copenhagen, and I'm now checking out time in Sweden as well.
