Oslo trains
 

Planning our first trip to Scandinavia. We will need to get from the Oslo airport to Lillehammer by train and then a return trip also. I have a Norwegian train schedule (which I can't read!). Does anyone know if "Gartermoen" (which has a little airplane next to it) is the name of the airport train station? Does anyone have advice for us? Thank you.

I think that must be right. I checked the Deutsche Bahn website, which shows schedules for all of Europe. They show a stop at the airport designated as "Oslo Lufthavn Gard." That designates airport in German. If you want to check, it's www.bahn.de

Type in either "Oslo Lufthavn" or "Gardermoen" in the FROM slot and Lillehammer as the destination, fill in the date and time you land, and then you'll instantly have the train departures around that date and time.

Oslo Lufthavn literally means Oslo airport (luft = air, havn = port) and Gardermoen is its geographical name. Both then refer to the airport. The train station is under the airport and easy to find if you just follow the signs."Oslo Lufthavn Gard" is a code for airport train station, perhaps also the buss stops.

Yes, the train makes a stop at the airport.
In Lillehammer do not miss the open air museum Maihaugen.

Use the regular train, not the Airport Express unless you're in a hurry and want to spend more.

Airport Xpress train goes only between Oslo and Gardermoen, smooth and comfortable takes 19 min but far too expensive to save 20 min use local train via Lillestrøm if Oslo
