Oslo tomorrow - suggestions!
My husband and I are going to Oslo for a last-minute bank holiday break (3 nights from London) - can anyone offer suggestions? I haven't had the time to do proper research but would be great to know fun atmosphere bars/restaurants, popular activities for this in-between season, etc. If any recommendations, please let me know! I doubt we'll do very much long distance travel outside of the city as this is mostly designed to be a break, but if there is cross-country skiing/hiking within about 30-40 minutes travel at this time of year would definitely consider. Also have booked Oro grill for dinner on Saturday night but would love suggestions - thanks in advance!

Akershus Fort and Castle was nice to stroll through, if the weather is nice. The Nobel Peace Center, City Hall too.

You've got lots of good suggestions, but Vigeland/Frogner Park is my favorite spot in Oslo.
You could also take the quick ferry ride to the open-air Norwegian Folk Museum to see a collection of homes from as far back as the 1200's, and a Stave church -- all in a beautiful setting. They also have folk music concerts. Really enjoyed it. |
Frogner Park with it's wonderful sculptures, Viking Ship Museum,Folk Museum, new Opera House where you can walk on the "roof." Lunch on the Ackker Brygge at Lofoten; order the big bucket of shrimp.
