Oslo- food & day trip suggestions
Greetings! I will be in Oslo for 5 days that the end of June and was wondering about possible day trip options from the city.
Also, are there any classic restaurants that shouldn'e be missed in Oslo?
Many thanks-

Lillehammer is a good choice especially if visiting Maihaugen open-air museum close to centre of town. I would also highly recommend going to Aasgaardstrand, this idyllic town was the Artist Munch's summer paradise as well as other known artists. Visit his house. The village has a somewhat Mediterranean feel with white picturesque wooden houses. Go for a stroll thru town, the Tourist information office can give you a marked map to follow. You get there by bus and it's 2 hours from Oslo, Timetable to Åsgårdstrand:

Or you can visit Fredrikstad which is a nice fortress town... Walk around inside the old quarter which is inside the fortress and enjoy the looks and ambience... Only 1.5 hours or so with train from Oslo S.
