orvietto

We will be in Orvietto one night, driving a car from Rome and then from Orvietto to Florence.Family of 4-2 teens. Do we need a reservation for the cave tours? Also any great restaurants? Thanks!

You sign up for the underground tour at the tourist office, across the plaza from the Duomo. The English speaking ones sometimes fill up, so it's a first come, first serve. We got in on the tail end of a tour, and the couple behind us had to wait 2 hours for the next one.

Go sign up, then maybe have lunch. ((b))

The best restaurant in Orvieto is I Sette Consoli. Unless you are into food and your teens are too, it may be over the top for you.

After several visits I now only go to Orvieto to dine at I Sette Consoli.

Have used two overe the years and they are:
RISTORANTE ETRUSCA, via Maitani, 10. located just about a half block from the duomo and closed Monday $$$
RISTORANTE MAURIZIO, via Duomo, 78,
located on the NW corner of the duomo
square and closed on Tuesday.
Both were very good in quality of food
and service. Richard of LaGrange Park, IL.
