Elsa,

We drove to Deruta from Spoleto last October and I don't remember seeing a train station. It's a tiny town, but very picturesque. Probably the best way to get information is to fax or call the place where you are staying and ask them. Buon Viaggio.

There are numerous trains from Orvieto to Deruta by way of Orte and Perugia. Takes 3 to 3 1/2 hours. Go to:http://www.fs-on-line.com/eng/index.html for schedules.

Thanks for the help. Can't believe it takes 3-31/2 hrs. Orvieto and Deruta look fairly close to each other. It must be a case (almost) of - you can't get there from here.

If you have a car it does not take that long, maybe an hour and a half at the most.

Dawn:

I thought it probably would take about 1- 1 1/2 hrs. just looking at the map that's why I was so shocked when I checked the train sch. that Bob suggested. I looked into renting a car and for a day rental to/from Orvieto it cost $161 - that's when I decided to check out the train. One needs a whole day to take the train RT Orv. - Der.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
