Orvieto or Elsewhere?
We are staying with family in Farnese (tiny town two hours from Rome). My father has offered to watch the kids (!) while my husband and I get away for a night. We are thinking Orvieto (about a 45 min, drive from his place). Any other ideas?

If you've never been to Orvieto, it's a great place to visit. We loved it. Beautiful town, great food and shopping.

I second Orvieto. We were just there in May and it is wonderful and just the right size for a day trip. Be sure to see some of the Etruscan Ruins. The Cathedral is the most beautiful and interesting one I have seen in all my travels.

Yes, Orvieto! We loved it. I can even recommend a great restaurant called Hostaria, vini e cucina. It's beautiful and the food is to die for! We went there twice in one day.

And where to stay? Right in Orvieto or just outside. Specific hotel recs would be great, and restaurants, too. Thanks!

ORVIETO, ORVIETO, ORVIETO..lol We were there on a Sunday when there was a market next to the church and a flea market further down..Multipulciano looks great as does Pienza..Orvieto was the highlight of our cruise last year.. I would have loved to have spent a few more days in Tuscany...next time..
