Orvieto Hotels

First, thank you to all of you who responded to my query re staying in Naples on a Rio Maggiore to Sorrento hop on our upciming trip. We have decided that that is really too long a distance for us to cover in one day at our age. So...
We have pretty much decided to make a stop in Orvieto on the way. We normally stay in 3 star hotels, but those have become more expensive for us as the value of the American dollar dwindles. So...
What do you recommend? There's a hotel I really like the look of on the net but it is about $250 a night. That is do-able, but we would really prefer to find a place for $100 to $150 (I know, wouldn't everybody.). Any suggestions?

Hotel Valentino is between 75 and 89 euro per night. It's only a few minutes from the cathedral and it's a three-star hotel. If you book by email breakfast is included in the room rate.

janestuart,

We stayed at Hotel Corso in April and were very happy with it.

Our room had a tiny balcony, and there is a larger balcony also.

The location was good, and we easily walked from the top of the funicular (we came by train.)

Hi,
try Hotel Kristall in Orvieto, 3-star-hotel price from 70 euro per night per room:

Here's a second vote for the Hotel Corso.

Stayed at Hotel Duomo earlier this year, lovely and comfortable, near the Duomo, parking garage included. Paid just over 100 euros per night, but that wasn't during high season.

I don't have experience with any hotels in Orvieto, but I stayed in the aforementioned Valentina's B&B in April (not to be confused with Hotel Valentino). While it was nice, be aware that our room, at least, was very, very dim. It frankly drove me crazy. Not enough fixtures, particularly with compact fluorescents. While the location, price and amiability of Valentina were all positives, the lack of lighting outweighed them all!
