Orvieto & Sienna

I'd like to visit Orvieta & Sienna and wonder if these are good side trips from Florence, or if I should plan on an overnight at either or both. I have a little flexibility with my schedule...or should I add a third night to Venice? Can anyone help me with this wonderful predicament?

I have done both from Florence. Orvieto is an easy daytrip via train, while Siena is easier to access via bus and would probably be a longer day.

While it would be nice to stay a night in either, not knowing your complete itinerary, I'd probably opt for the third night in Venice!

Are you a fan of big cities or small towns. I was glad I spent a night in Orvieto (I got their from Rome). It's small, but it's filled with lots of day trippers. Near sunset they all left and Orvieto took on a quite calm. After a nice dinner at the Tipica Trattoria Etrusca, I wandered through back streets, looked out over the valley, and enjoyed the peacefulness of Umbria.

There are more outdoor cafes open at night in Siena, and even more night life in Venice.

Hmm, should have had a cappucino before posting with poor spelling and punctuation.

Corrected: Are you a fan of big cities or small towns? I was glad I spent a night in Orvieto (I got there from Rome).
