Orvieto
We want to stop in orvieto on our way to florence see Duomo and visit for about 3 hours. We are travelling by train. Any suggestions on where we can put our luggage while there?

janecq, I remember other posters saying that they went across the street from the train station (I think it was the train station) and paid a hotel there to store their luggage while they visited Orvieto. I think the cost was 5euro to do this. Evidently the train station does not have luggage storage. Hope someone else will see this question who knows exactly where the hotel is loctated. Or you could try using the search box..it doesn't seem to work to well but maybe you will be lucky! Orvieto is beautiful, you will love your time there I am sure.

There is a hotel directly across the street from the station & to the left a bit - must be the one LoveItaly is talking about.

Thanks Stu, I was almost certain the hotel was across from the train station. I have always been there by car but I did make a mental note what other Fodorite's have done regarding luggage when day visiting by train.

Will your car have a trunk? We left the majority of our luggage in the trunk of the car (not visible) in the big lot near the train station for three days when we took the train to Rome. Only took a couple of day bags with us. Nothing is 100% safe but that lot looked pretty safe to me. I wouldn't leave expensive jewlery or cameras or anything though. That was four years ago.

there's a new luggage storage office 4 minutes from the train station. they gave us directions to reach it. we were there 3 weeks ago and two guys also provided us lots of interesting information about the town and its spots. at the station desk they have info & direction tickets to store your luggage. cheers...

Well that is going to be a great help for people visiting Orvieto via the train mojodave! I hope that janecg sees your post (if she hasn't left for Italy already)!
|
Thanks! we will go to the new storage area. That's great.

Hi Jane,
Highly recommend taking the time for the underground tour. It is very interesting, not very long, and really gives you a sense of Orvieto's Etruscan past. Buon viaggio! |
