Ortisei/Val Gardena area hotels

I am looking for a hotel in this area for this September. We have a few nites reserved at the Schloss Hotel Korb but we would like to combine with a somewhat less expensive place. We will have a car and enjoy out of the way places, in quiet areas, outside of town is good. We are hikers but that probably wouldn't affect the hotel choice. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance...

Hi EmilyC,
We stayed at and can recommend Garni Ariston in St. Christina, Val Gardena.

If you don't mind staying in Alta Badia, just over the Gardena Pass, we can highly recommend Ciasa Montanara in La Villa, Alta Badia.

We enjoyed Garni Snalterhof in Ortisei when we stayed there in 2006. It is a family-run hotel right on the piazza. I don't know about your budget but we found it affordable and convenient. The host was very helpful in suggesting outings, restaurants, etc.

I thought they had a web site but I did not locate it just now. If you can't find it and are interested, post again and I will do some research.

Not sure of your budget but the Hotel Uhrerhof (www.uhrerhof.com) meets your criteria exactly: small, out of town (in Pufels, about 15 minutes above Ortisei), and quiet. This is one of our favorite hotels after spending 2.5 years living in Europe!

Hi Emily - Are you looking for half-board or B&B? How much do you want to pay?

I've stayed several times at the Villa Park in Ortisei and can recommend it.

Garni Snaltnerhof - suggested by JD - is also pleasant.

Both are 'in town' family-run B&B's. There are several nice restaurants nearby ...

Hope this helps ...

Steve

Thanks everyone. We are not looking for rooms with half board - just the room.
We don't have a set price for what we want to pay, but rather we are looking to offset 3 expensive nites at Schloss Korb with a less expensive place.
