Orly Airport
hello All, thanks for good responses about a week in Paris!
We arrive in Orly airport on a Saturday and I am thinking that since it is not rush hour, hiring a taxi to take us to our flat near Opera Garnier, might not be prohibitive, also remembering that we will be 2 people, so would need train and bus tickets! thank you! |
Taxis have flat fares now into the city anyway. From Orly, it's 35 euro to the Right Bank. My point is rush hour is irrelevant now with flat fares.
|
Taxi from Orly to Opera is at flat rate of €35. May be a little bit more than public transport for two, but well worth it from a comfort and convenience perspective. Just be sure to use only licensed taxi.
|
Yes since public transit would involve taking OrlyVal people mover to RER B - then change to RER E - crowded transfers so taxi for 2 makes the only sensible way and quicker probably and right to hotel door.

Thanks so much!

Unless you are an extreme budget traveller, this is a time when the flat rate for the taxi is your best bet. There have been reports of taxi drivers not always setting the meter to the flat fee from the airports, so pay attention the meter the moment it is turned on.
If anything out of the ordinary happens, note the taxi number immediately. If ever you have tons of time to kill, you can take the T7 tram from Orly to the terminus of metro line 7 which will then take you directly to Opéra. This would cost each of you 2 x 1.90€ (one ticket for the tram and then another one for the metro). |
Tram T7 sounds like a delightful way to go - total less than 8 euros for both.
