ORIENT EXPRESS

Am getting ideas on where to celebrate a special wedding anniversary next year. The Simpleon Orient Express comes to mind. Have dreamed of this for years. Anyone taken the trip before? I know there are various destinations. What did you find is the best destination to take? Any comments, please?
Coco

Good evening, Cocoxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
We did take the Orient Express from Venice to Paris about 15 years ago. It
was expensive, the cabins were very
well appointed, service impecable, food
superb, and a grand time was had by all.
Wonderful for the first time shot, probably would not do it again due to its price... Richard of LaGrange Park, Il..Oh, yes the memories linger on.....

My Dad was on it last year. It was during the summer and there is no airconditioning and formal wear is obligatary!

He thought the everything on the train was amazing but he said that the heat was unbearable - especially having to sit through meals in a dinner jacket and bow tie. Choose your time of the year carefully!!

I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Laura

Coco,

Go to the Website "orient-express.com" and you can get all the info about the trains and trip you want. It is a very elaborate site. There is also a video you can get called "Travel the world by train". It has a very good section on the Express from London to Venice. I personally have not done the trip myself, but I am tempted. It currently costs about $3000 for a return ticket per person, but they do have specials throughout the year. Have fun and remember, you can't take it with you.

Greg
Hi, Coco. We will be taking the VSOE Oct 10, 11, 12. Arrangements are made, tickets in hand, etc., just waiting for the calendar to turn.

And thank you to Laura for the tip that there is no air conditioning in summer. I think our timing will be just right, and I'll let you know when I get back.

Regarding the cost? Just do it.
