Organ Recital at Westminster Abbey

Have any of you attended the recital Sunday evenings?
Sent them an email about if seats are first come, first serve and never got a response. I have wanted to hear this for a long time Thanks,

Any other suggestions while in London for this? St. Paul's has actual services but I don't want to interupt their religious service. Temple Church is another possibility????

If you go to the Westminster Abbey website, a very few services or events have a little logo that looks - if you stretch your imagination - like a ticket. No organ recitals in the immediate future carry that logo - so just turn up.

If it's specifically church organs you want to hear, there's a weekly list at www.londonorgan.co.uk. If it's music recitals in churches, the classical music section in Time Out carries most of them.

None are particularly good or bad (though Southwark cathedral, which gets relatively few visitors, looks a bit like what Hollywood would dream up as a cathedral): it's really what's convenient and what music you're interested in. Westminster cathedral and Westminster Abbey really do their Sunday recitals as kind of postscripts to vespers/evensong, so they're closer to being quasi-services. The others mostly do them - as is the norm with most Time Out-listed music in churches - as free-standing musical events.
