Ordering a taxi in Paris

Hi Everyone,
We're here in Paris right now and need to order a taxi for Saturday morning from the Marais to Orly to pick up our lease car. We took the RER from CDG to St Michel and walked to our apt. But my DH's suitcase handle broke and our son shipped us our hiking boots so we have extra "stuff" right now which isn't a problem with car, but trying to navigate to Orly on our own will just be too frustrating.

Sooooooooooo, is there a taxi I can order online, a number to call? A shuttle? What would you recommend??? Thanks for the help as usual.

Take care,
Michele

Are you staying at a hotel? If yes, you can always ask the front desk to call for a taxi. If you're at an apt, I'm sure your landlord can recommend a taxi company (or Fodorites can recommend one here). Just so you know, when you CALL for a taxi, the meter starts running when the taxi starts its journey TO your hotel/apt - so don't be alarmed when you get in the taxi to find the meter running already.

Other Fodorites have recommended the Shuttle-Inter service.

You could book with Shuttle-inter, they are remarkably reliable. They have a website. I can't recall the cost to Orly. It is a private car service so you won't be stopping to pick up other passengers.

Or call a G & taxi from your room,, they speak English

They do charge from where they leave so the shuttle inter might work out cheaper. If you have the hotel call you might be charged an additional surcharge

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to update you on the taxi situation. We called G7 taxi the day before. Talked to an English speaking operator who booked the taxi for the next morning, 9 am. It showed up at 8:50 and we were waiting on curb with luggage. There was no traffic as it was a Saturday morning. Only took 20 minutes to airport from the Marais. 6.50 was on meter at start and end cost on meter was 28 something. With five bags in the trunk he said it would be 34. They quoted me 45-55 so we were happy. Very easy, very prompt, very good driving. would definitely use again. Just wanted to fill you in.

Take care,
Michele

wow, that worked out great, I've never gotten there that quickly.

Taxis don't exactly quote fares as it depends on the meter and time, there isn't a fixed rate. They probably told you want it usually runs as an estimate, but it wouldn't be a price quote per se.

I have always used G7 for booking taxis -- I use their website and do it on line, and every single time the taxi has been there about 5 minutes ahead of time.
