Order of cities: Venice, Lake Garda, Florence, Almafi & Rome

Hi Everyone,

I'm creating my itinerary for my honeymoon. Thanks to you all I have decided confidently to go to Venice, Lake Garda, Florence, Almafi & Rome with some day trips. Do you suggest I go in this order? Venice, Lake Garda, Florence, Almafi & Rome

Also, would you fly or take a train from Venice to Lake Garda?

Many thanks for your help =)
Natalie

you could fly into Milan and take the train to Venice then at the end fly out of Rome.

Clearly "no" on flying from Venice to Lake Garda - - under 100 miles, I seem to recall. I would advise car rental, personally.

Best wishes,

Hi Nat, we did something similar for our HM in 2002 - except we had CT in place of Almafi.

We flew into Milan, hit Lake Garda for three days, 4 nights (daytrip to Verona and 2 around the lake), Venice for 2 nights, Florence for 2 nights, Rome for 3 nights, then CT for 3 nights. You could put Almafi in that order and it makes for a wonderful trip!

You start off slow/romantic, wind down from the wedding... then you finish in much the same manner before heading home. Perfect!

We stayed in Garda at Hotel Excelsior and found it wonderful. Nice pool, walking distance to town, outdoor musical entertainment in the town each night... Oh, and you might want to rent a car for the Lake portion of the trip, we then drove to Venice and dropped the car off at the airport - made it very easy. Either car, train or bus - no flying that distance.
