Orchestras in Piazza San Marco, Venice

Hi, everyone,

My husband and I are planning a trip to Italy for our 10th anniversary next year, either in March or May. My husband has never seen the orchestras in Venice's Piazza San Marco and would like to. Does anyone know whether they play during March or if this is too early in the year for them? I've tried searching the forums and the Web for info but have had no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I am not 100% sure (for that I would need to do a bit of search myself) but I would say March is too early. I was there in March about 5 years ago and I don't think there was the orchestras. If you have a choice, go in May.

March is definitely too early, according to what I've read and whay I experienced on a mid-March visit.

They will play during the last week/weekend in March, weather permitting. But even then, they stop around 5-6 pm. Going in May would ensure days and nights of music in the piazza.
