Optimal train booking FRA Airport-->Bamberg ?
Arriving 10:45 to Frankfurt Friday May 25 from JFK on Singapore Air.
1) Q-Durch Ticket 24E pp (nice), BUT using local trains, 12:02-->15:30 or 13:02-->16:34 (a looong transit after a sleepless flight)
2) Normal Price 53E pp, 12:02-->14:34 or 12:37-->15:17 (most expensive)
or
3) Sparangebot 44E pp ...Not sure if we can make the 12:37-->arriving in Bamberg 15:17 (next train 13:29--->16:17 HATE to get there that late!)
Your thought on #3? Can we make it through customs and pick up luggage + get to Fernbahnhof in time? Do we lose the WHOLE price of the Sparticket OR just pay the difference between that and the full price IF we miss the train?

RE #3. If your flight is on time you will have no issues getting to the train station in 112min.
Luggage pickup is after immigration but before customs.
Eastbound transatlantic flights tend to have a tailwind, which generally helps on-time arrival, even if the flight departs JFK a little late. The SingAir flight is a late departure out of JFK, so it's less likely to get delayed due air traffic control than flights that leave 3 or 4hrs earlier.
I don't know the rules on train tickets. Personally I'd just buy a ticket for the 12:37 when I get to the station.

#3: You're totally skewered on the day of travel if you don't use the ticket because of a flight or customs delay.
I'd use the QDL ticket. You have 1.5 hours between Hanau and Würzburg, and 1 hour between Würzburg and Bamberg, where you can snooze on the train. If you really cannot sleep on the plane, you need to sleep a little anyway so you can then stay awake until a reasonable bed time. I often arrange for a long train ride after departure so I can catch up a bit. Just set your alarm so you get off at your next stop.
Or just buy a regular price ticket to Würzburg on a direct train (1:20 min or so, 37€ each) and stay there your first night; go to Bamberg Sat. am on the Bayern ticket.

I have done the same as Russ suggested but stayed in Aschaffenburg. It is part of Rhein-Main travel district for cheaper first day tickets and yet part of Bavaria for the Bayern Ticket on second day. It is worth a day's stay for us:

We stayed there in 2008 and went on to Bamberg.

Thanks for the input everyone.
We have a lovely FeWo booked in Bamberg already, so I don't want to forego the first night there by staying in another town.
After further discussion with travel mate, we likely opted for the quicker, though more expensive train, without penalty for missing the Spar Ticket train.
IF an 'favorable alignment of the planets' should occur, and we are ready for the 12:02 QDurch train, we may opt for IT as only one hour difference in arrival time but a 50% reduction in ticket price!
