Opéra Palais Garnier

If you fancy taking a look at Opéra Palais Garnier but do not have time to go to see an event, you can pay to access to take a look around. They also offer guided tours, though we did not do this, we just looked around. It really is very beautiful inside and well worth adding to the list of places to visit when you are in Paris.

Hope you like the photos.

funny official site does not show photo of underground lake where the Phantom supposedly dwelled - this photo survey does and thanks for posting this parisbyphoto - Opera Garner such an amazing edifice!

For years, this has actually been one of my favorite tips for Paris first-timers. It doesn't take too long, it doesn't cost that much, and man is it gorgeous in there. And it's right there at a big Metro stop. Easy-peasy.

Nice photos of one of our favorites in Paris.

We usually don't do tours, but the English tour of the Opera Garnier was well worth it. The stories told of Garnier and the people who went there in the beginning were fascinating. This was one tour that we were very glad we went on.
And yes, it's easy-peasy.

We won't be returning to Paris until 2014 but this is on my list.

wow, i had no idea there was a lake. I think the English tour and a visit to the lake if possible are definitely on my list! Thanks for the tips.

I don't know if it's possible for the public to get up there, but if you can find a way to do it, visit the apiary on the roof of the Opéra. A good Parisian friend of mine who's been a tour guide for 30+ years too me there and it was fascinating.

thanks, if possible, I will try to visit it.

Ever notice there are no trees on the Avenue de l'Opera? That's what Garnier asked for, so the view of his creation wouldn't be obstructed.

I will take a look today, as it is on my way to work.
