Yes, I know it. It's a four star hotel, at Sorrento, on the road toward Massalubrense.
It is in panoramic position, and rooms are fine. There are several terraces, a big garden, and solarium.
Welcome !
|
Vincenzo: Do you know how close to the town this hotel is. We were a bit concerned about the hotel since no one ever speaks of it in all the msg threads on hotels in Sorrento. Thank you.

Grand Hotel Capodimonte is in the town of Sorrento: not in the centre of the town but very far from it. About twentyfive minutes walking.
It's a nice four stars hotel.
If you need more help, here I am.
Buon viaggio.

I am also looking for a nice hotel in Sorrento in May and would love to here anyone's suggestions for small places within easy walking distance from town center and preferably a little away from the initial piazza at the train station. Also, preferably less than $150

Tara, your requirements are so much and aimed so, that it seems you want your cake and eat it too. ( May I say so ? )
However, I try to suggest the best solution to you: La Tonnarella, a two star hotel with fine rooms, bar and resturant on the beach: May is a very good month to appreciate sun and beach.
It is small enough, about 20 rooms.
Walk distance from town centre is about twenty minutes.
But, really, it it far from the railway station. Once taxi at your arrival and once taxi at your departure.
Rates are very interesting: about 108 euro per day per person, full board.
If you need more helps, don't worry: I live here.
Ciao.
Vincenzo,
Do you know anything about the Hotel Onda Verde in Praiano?
Would this be a good place to stay? We will have a car.
|
It's only about ten minutes from town at most - certainly not 25 mins. Lovely place, very expensive, though. If I was rich enough, I'd stay there.
|
Bill, as you told me you have a car, I tell you Onda Verde is good enough.
Environment is fine, rooms are quiet.
Have a nice trip.
|
We stayed elsewhere last May, but had considered Onde Verde. After driving past it I wish we'd stayed there. On the Amalfi coast, you want to have a view. You'll definately get that at Onde Verde.

Thanks a million, Vincenzo.
Your input has been invaluable to those of us that want information about the Amalfi coast.
If your email is authentic, I will invite and spouse/friend to dinner when we get to Sorrento.
Caio
Thanks a million, Bill.
Of course my email is authentic; I'm awaiting you at Sorrento.
Welcome !
Ciao

Vincenzo:

I fell in love with Sorrento and Amalfi
Coast when I was there last Oct. I am planning on returning this Oct., but solo. I need to find an affordable, clean, centrally located hotel/apt. in Sorrento for about 8 days. I stayed at La Minervetta last Oct. Loved the hotel/view and restaurant, but because I am going solo, and don't plan on spending too much time in my hotel, can you recommend something for me. An apt. would be great, that way I could take advantage of all the wonderful local food and make myself, or new friends, some great dinners. Can you recommend such a place. My budget allows for no more than $70 US a day. Thank you for any help. Ciao.

Barb
no problem, I'll attempt to help you. I need to know the exact period. Is the center of the town a must ? Is the town of Sorrento a must ?
Ciao.
|
Vincenzo: Yes, Sorrento is a must. I love it!! I will not have a car, so must be within walking distance to town. I'm looking at Hotel Del Corso, Hotel Mignon Meuble? Also, can I get a boat to Procida from Sorrento? I am thinking of spending a couple of days on Procida. Thanks for your help.
