Opera tickets in Verona

We really loved Verona last year, but we got there too late in the season for the opera.

It looks like we will go by there again on our way to Vienna/Romania/Budapest etc on our 6th month European road trip this year.

Does anyone know how hard it is to get a ticket ( would prefer budget tickets) at the last moment? ( We always just fly by the seat of our pants & follow our bliss so can't book ahead).

I would love any insider secrets! Thanks in advance!

Gosh it has been ages since I have been here. Waving to all my old friends ( from Barcelona at the moment, soon headed towards Cinque Terra and Lake Como).

Oh, if you opera experts have any great ideas about opera in Budapest, I'd appreciate that as well, though I should probably open a new thread for that.

We've been to Verona for the opera a couple times, most recently last year to see "Tosca." Each time we went, we bought our tickets on the day of the opera (last minute) and scored great seats at "regular" prices at the box office located next to the arena. Good luck!

We loved Verona and the opera is fantastic and a must see...even for people who do not like opera and especially for kids and families. Our 9 year old daughter loved it.

We saw Carmen with amazing sets by Franco Zeffirelli and directed by Placido Domingo. We enjoyed it so much we went the next day to see Aida and loved it too.

Adored the farmstay also!

Wish I could offer more...we are attending the "Carmen" performance in a couple of weeks and got great seats but did so on-line and also MONTHS ahead by using the website. I don't suppose it would hurt to check out what might still be available for your possible dates on line first. I know we have to pick our tickets up NLT an hour prior and I suspect there may be some tickets that aren't picked up and I assume those might be available at the last minute for re-sale.
