opera in florence
Anyone know anything about getting opera tickets in Florence? Is there one venue for opera there that I can look up schedules for? I'll be in Florence the second week in Sept. Thanks!

try http://www.selectitaly.com
If that doesn't work, try .it! Their opera house probably has a website, too. |
The Teatro Comunale is the city's major concert venue, hosting the symphony orchestra under the direction of Zubin Mehta, which performs a new programme every week during the winter concert season (Jan?March), as well as an opera and ballet season in the autumn (Sept?Dec).
The calednar for the 2004/2005 season is below. This is from the website www.maggiofiorentino.com. I saw K. once and it was quite dull -- save your money unless you're a fan of these sorts of things. Have not seen "Cosi" or "Don Carlo," but I suspect that Mozart and Verdi can't be too bad.

:( It looks like nothing will be playing while we're there--around the 16th. I guess we'll have to do this next time! Thanks for your help!
