Opera at La Scala
I want to attend La Scala in Sept 2011 for La Boheme.
Based on their website it looks like tickets go on sale July 23rd. Does that sound right? |
make that Sept 2012 for La Scala!

At the moment (2011), tickets for La Scala performances go on sale two months before the performance date.
If the performance that you wish to attend is on September 23, 2012 then yes, you purchase your tickets on July 23, 2012. Be aware that these tickets go VERY FAST. You need to start both calling and emailing the moment the La Scala box office opens. One person calling, one person on the computer. It also means that, if you live in the US, you have to stay up very late to start calling/emailing La Scala the moment their box office opens. Do NOT buy from agents. Just buy direct from La Scala. If you cannot get a ticket for a seat, then you can always try to get standing room tickets on the day of performance. As with the rest of Italy, La Scala defies predictability, so check La Scala's website often to see what changes might be in store. |
Thanks

I would like to get some clarification about this question. We are looking to buy tickets for the May 11 performance of the Opera Tosca. The sales calendar on the web site says:
"Sales calendar Tickets are put on sale according to the following order: 1.Internet, Automatic Telephone Booking, Authorised Sales Agents: from two months before the start of the run of every production, according to the dates in the calendar shown here below. Wednesday 22/02/2012 Opera Tosca" I get the impression from this that we can order tickets beginning February 22 for the May 11 performance. I think the operative word is "run" versus "performance". Have the rules changed for the 2011/2012 season or am I not interpreting this correctly? Thanks. |
john: your guess is as good as mine.
I would interpret the start of a "run" as the first date of performance of a particular opera. But then "run" could be interepreted some other way as well. Is Feb 22 the first date for the "Tosca" performances? Watch this youtube clip and you'll know why I wish you good luck in getting tickets to La Scala! :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ls2Rs...eature=related |
