Open top bus Florence
 

Me again. Just seen video of Florence and the person using the camera is on an open - top bus doing what looks like a tour of Florence. Does such a bus exist and if you have used it, is it very expensive? Cheers Pawsha

I have been to Florence many times and I find it difficult to understand how such a bus would be of value. Most sights in Florence are no more than 10 minutes apart on foot. Plus the center of Florence is pedestrian-only, so such a bus would not have access to the most interesting areas. Touring these areas is better on foot and many can only happen on foot.

The website mentioned a Fiesole component--the trip to Fiesole might be interesting in an open-topped bus, although you could do the same less expensively on a city bus.

FYI, I checked the route maps and there are two loops. Line A skirts the center and then crosses the Arno, riding through the hills near Piazzale Michelangelo. Line B also skirts the center and then crosses the Arno, passes near the Pitti Palace and a few churches of interest, eventually spending much of its route in residential neighborhoods, finally ending in Fiesole. Tickets for each line are puchased separately and are 20 euros for adults.

Thanks folks. Florence IS easy by foot,and ellenem (sic) is correct. I think we will train it to Fiesole. I believe it is worth seeing.

The best way to get up to Fiesole is by bus. It is a lovely route and stops right in the centre opposite the museum and next to a restaurant/bar.
The small buses in the Florence city centre are great to use if it is raining or if you just want to take the weight of your feet for a bit and site see at the same time.
