open jaw ticket?

Hello,

I'd just like everyone's input on flight tickets to Italy. Is it better to get an open jaw ticket (eg: fly to rome, return from milan), or just get a return ticket?

thanks in advance,
ahmei

Assuming you're visiting more than one city, it only makes sense to get an open jaw ticket so you don't have to backtrack -- unless of course time isn't a concern and the prices for an open jaw outweigh its advantages.

ahmei, if you are asking about cost, the open jaw should be much cheaper than two one way tickets.

Hi ahmei,

An open-jaw ticket is usually about the same price as a Round Trip.

I just purchased open jaw tickets yesterday for this September to Italy and they were actually cheaper than a round trip.

Last year we flew into Florence and out of Rome on Luftansa and it was cheaper than roundtrip out of either place.

I've done open in Italy and with different countries (Paris-AMsterdam, Madrid-London). In all cases the ticket was roughly the same price as a round trip. If you plan on travelling around instead of staying in just one place, I couldn't imagine doing it without an open jaw.
