Open Jaw: Budapest+Prague+Krakow
Hi,
Does anyone have a reco on a good airline to get an open jaw ticket so I can visit Budapest+Prage+Krakow by train in one trip? I am flying out of O'Hare. I would really, really appreciate any advice. |
Hi Kate,
Do you want to do only those three? We flew into Munich and out of Prague. Flew Czech AL home. Liked it. Also check http://airtravelcenter.com/onetrav.htm for low prices. |
Consider Finnair - - and you may be able to get a free night (i.e., lodging, meals, taxi to/from airport at the airline's expense) in Helsinki (on the return) because their flight(s) from Budapest (and mayeb other cities don't get into Helsinki early enough to connect to their trans-atlantic return flight.
also check out www.affordablepoland.com - - not just for Poland. They may contract with Swiss. Best wishes, Rex |
Kate1,
Without knowing when you are planning to do this trip, I would say about $650 R/T. This fare is good from October on..... This would involve British Airways and LOT, the Polish Airlines. You would connect in London both ways with direct flights to London from ORD. That's a pretty good fare for the cities involved(flying into Budapest and flying out from Krakow). Hope this helps. Good Luck and have a wonderful trip! |
I just checked on travelocity using the Multiple Destinations option. ORD to KRK (Krakow) on Oct 8, returning from PRG (Prague) on Oct 22 and the fare was $595 on Lufthansa via FRA outbound and MUC on the return. fly ORD-KRK, KRK-BUD, and PRG-ORD for 963 |
I did that last year, only flying into Prague and out of Krakow -- best fares were on Air France or BA. Those were the only two major airlines that flew those routes. Both have very frequent flights to/from Krakow, for example, CDG through Paris and BA through London, that's all. If AF or BA have good flights from Chicago and to Budapest, I'd check them out. Of course, both go through their hub cities in Europe and then do codeshares with LOT to/from Krakow and Czech Air to/from Prague but you can get good fares if you keep all legs on the same airline.

Hi,
For late Sept http://airtravelcenter.com/onetrav.htm has RT ORD/Vienna for $673 and ORD/Vienna/Prague/ORD for 763. |
Again, not sure about your dates, but British Airways just loaded their winter sale fares today. It may have dropped the price I quoted in my other post by $100-$200 per. Worth checking into it.
Good luck! |
