you know this post makes no sense all by itself. why didn't you just add it on to the post where you made the mistake?

Hi lin,

Once you've posted you can't edit.

Just start over.

Once you've posted, you're stuck. It's out there in eternity for all to see. That's why there's a preview function so you can look over your post before you actually post it, but if you're like me and apparently a lot of others, you won't do that either! I never learn.

I think what earl meant was that after you saw your mistake, you should have posted a reply to your own message and then said, "sorry, I meant Gorgeous monastery". That way it would stay with your post.

Actually, the preview function does not work for title checking - - by the time you get to seeing your preview, the "title" (or message header) can no longer be changed.

Some message board software oughta be horsewhipped.

Best wishes,

Rex

thanks for all the tips.. i HAD previewed QUICKLY my message (p.s..is there spell check i can use here?? i am not too computer literate.. love relaxing at fodors, enjoying others' trips, etc.. but i do make a lot of mistakes and was wondering if i can spell check within this site?)

glad to hear the title wasn't in front of me with that atrocious spelling. the problem is it is 1) totally embarrassing..2) sometimes just incomprehensible!

there is a nice translator's website that allows you to HIDE your message if you have had second thoughts. might be a good idea for the designers.

this short stop WAS lovely, though.
hope someone can use the info.
i had stopped there twenty years ago , and was not impressed enough to get wearly legs out of car.. but it was well worth it today!

lin, we still don't have the faintest idea what you're talking about. What the others are trying to point out is that you need to go back to your original thread where you made the mistake and post a reply to that thread to note your meaning.

To go back and post the corrected spelling on the "offending" post is (kinda) the right answer... and kinda unnecessary.

Anyone who wants to see what the message with the mis-spelling is/was can simply click on lincasanova's name - - sufficiently few postings that it is quite clear "what she is talking about"...

The better answer, as suggested by ira, is simply to start all over. That's what I, too, would recommend.

I hate to mention this but your original post about the monastery still goes unanswered. But your "mistake" post has gathered 11 responses. There's something terribly interesting about that fact, but I'm not really sure what it is.

lincasanova,
There is no spell check, but when you click on preview , you can be your own editor. I should learn this myself, but I am usually too much in a hurry.
Once you have posted, as Patrick says, it is there for Eternity, much to some of our regret
But anything you have to say on a particular thread, needs a CLEAR title, and then always post back on that threadd so you keep it all together. Some of us are a bit feeble minded (speaking for myself) and trying to figure out what other posters are talking about is sometimes too much work ..
Don't worry about it. . just keep posting and believe me, you will get better at it each time
