Only one train a day from Beaune, France to Interlaken, Switzerland?
 

Hello,
Our family is from U.S., using the Rail Europe site to try to book our train tickets. (Maybe Rail Europe is the problem...) 2 adults, one 12 year old, one 8.
We have 3 days in Amsterdam
3 in Paris
1 in Beaune
2 in Interlaken
1 in Geneva, and flying out.
When we look on Rail Europe, it seems to show that only one train a day can get us from Beaune to Interlaken, using the nearby Dijon Ville gare. It shows only a 5:30 p.m. train. Can this be right?
Are there trains in the late morning? If so, where can we go online to purchase them? We'd rather not wait until we're there to buy them -- is that just necessary?
Lastly, is the Eurail Select 3 countries a better deal? It seems to cost more if we compare to all the tickets, but that's not certain, depending on how we use it. Does the Eurail Select allow us to board the high-speed Thalys and TGV whenever we wish, or is it better to pre-book? And does it cost extra?

I suppose it is possible, but highly unlikely. That is definitely not an easy journey. Basically, the question is there more than one train from Dijon to Interlaken, and I imagine there is. Raileurope has limited schedules listed, use a better website, but that is acomplicated journey you may need to try options yourself. Don't check Beaune to INterlaken, check Dijon. There are probably different ways to go (through Bern, through Basel, etc.)

That is going to be a complicated journey, I bet, with lots of changes.

From www.bahn.de site, there are several trains from Dijon Ville to Interlaken, some will need more changes.

You could easily book train tickets on http://www.voyages-sncf.com/billet-train for train travel in France and to Switzerland. For travel in France, usually there are discounts if you book ahead.

With railpass, you still need to pay supplements for reserving seats on TGV or Thalys. From Raileurope sites, it seems really expensive, compared point to point tickets, for instance: normal fair Dijon to Interlaken is only 68 Euro on Sncf istes.

Yes raileurope is possibly a problem - look at the bahn website! I think it will give you various options.

Book Amnsterdam-Paris at www.thalys.com, with cheap fares available and print-you-own tickets.

Book Paris-Beaune at www.voyages-sncf.com (see advice on using it at www.seat61.com/France-trains.htm to avoid being bumped to Rail Europe). You collact tickets in Paris or in some cases print your own.

Thenuse www.voyages-sncf.com again to book Beaune-Interaken, splitting the journey if it shows no good results, into Dijon or Paris-Lausanne and Beaune-Paris or Beaune-Dijon.
