Only have 1 day -Taormina or Mt.Etna
 

Our cruise affords us only one day-trip in Sicily. Which to choose? We've seen craters in Hawaii & Maui. Is Mt. Etna different? Please give us your opinion.

We were in Sicily last year and went to both Taormina and Mt. Etna. I've never been to Hawaii but I would imagine that a volcano is a volcano. Same can be said of Taormina - it is yet another pretty city to wander around. My husband would choose the volcano every time and I would choose the city.

I'd also do the day trip to Taormina. It is a popular resort and touristy but beautiful. Not sure what other ruins you will see on the cruise, but Taormina gives you a Greek theater in a spectacular setting

Was there 3 years ago.Stayed in Taormina and also went to Etna. I would do Taormina and if you are lucky you may hear etna rumble. Even though Taormina is loaded with tourists, it is very beautiful and the Greek theatre is fantastic, as are the views.
