ONLY 6 days in Spain - What to do!? Can you DRIVE?

My boyfriend and I are traveling to spain for 6 days (thourgh Madrid). We know this isnt enough time to do everything, but want a good iternary to get a feel for the culture.

We know we want to spend two days in Mardrid and two days in Barcelona. Any recommendations on either (i) Valencia (ii) Sevilla OR (iii) driving small towns near Barcelona (e.g. Cadaques, Ginoa)

Is driving advisable in Spain or should we stick to rail?

Hi,
This is not much time. So you could stay in Madrid the city is interesting to visit and there is the famous Prado museum.

Then by bus you can go to Segovia 1 day.
By train to Toledo 1 day.

San Lorenzo del Escurial 1/2 - 1 day.

The distances are big to other destinations, but there is enough to do in Madrid.

Sorry, forgot to add, there are organized excursions as well and with Segovia you will usually see Avila. Very delicious cochinillo in Segovia.
In Toledo there is a small train so you can see the fortified middle ages Toledo and the view on Toledo as El Greco painted it. The Cathedral and El Greco paint. There is also a church with arabic mosaics preserved.

San Lorenzo, there are also excursions.

For the rest of the time enjoy Madrid and may be book a flamenco show. There is a Royal Palace to visit too and a few parks, El Retiro is one of them.
If you like serano ham, there is a place called the Museo del jamon. http://www.museodeljamon.es/

With six days you will not be able to see much. The advice above is sound either spend the entire time in Madrid with a side visit here or there. Or 3 days each in Madrid and Barcelona where you can take the AVE and not waste too much time traveling.

You don't have time to go down to the South of Spain, so stick as recommended with Madrid and Barcelona. With only three days in each place, you'll have more than enough to do and see without venturing outside of the cities.
