Hi sewitall,
I don't think it matters that one is catholic to want to go to the scavi, and I don't think it has anything to do with getting a tour. By stating that I am catholic, I was just responding to what someone else said...plus my mom wants me to go lol. Hopefully, you will hear one way or the other and you still have some time. Have a great trip!

You do not have to be catholic to go tour the scavi...we got our tickets while we were in Rome...I am looking into this as a good friend of ours studied at the Vatican and helped us get the information that we needed...this was about 6 years ago so I cannot recall off the top of my head...hopefully I will be able to get you more info before your trip!

I am not a Catholic, but I found the tour fascinating from an historic standpoint. I believe that it depends on your tastes. I believe that if you are an art and history buff, you should definitely go. But if your tastes lie elsewhere, then perhaps you should weigh your other options.

Have a lovely trip!
