I'm also interested in such a timetable. Travelling to Turkey this fall. I have just emailed a friend in Turkey regarding your question. Will post her response upon its receipt.

I can't say definitively, but suspect you won't have much success. Long distance coach service in Turkey is offered by numerous competitors, rather than a single dominant (private or government-run) company or like Greyhound in the US or Bus Eireann in Ireland.

For general planning purposes, take a look at Lonely Planet's Turkey guidebook ,which does a pretty good job of describing times and options.

Dave

Thanks Dave.

We're using lonely planet as much as we can.

For example, we're wanting to know how long it would take us to get from Kas to Pamukkale .. I am guessing a night bus but I could be wrong. THere is another inland route which doesn't take you to Selcuk.

Anyway, I'm trying to find out as much as I can. I'm sure things will change and I can always find things out as we go.

You're right though - there doesn't seem to be anything of that sort on the web anywhere.

As the previous poster said, it's hard to find any central information because there are so many different bus companies. However, one of my favorite websites is: www.turkeytraveller.org. It is a great source of all kinds of information and has a section called "Transport" which has several links to bus lines(mostly in Turkish, however). There seems to be plenty of service available, however, so you don't need to worry about finding transport.

Here's a pretty comprehensive web site for bus travel for all European countries.

http://www.budgettravel.com/eurbus.htm

I agree! Lonely planet guide is a must. It gives you a good idea of how long trips will take and when buses leave. To and from big cities there are numerous buses leaving pretty much every hour (be prepared at the bus station you will be barraged by reps yelling city names at you enticing you to go with their company...tim to bargain a little!). And the buses are very comfortable.

I thought that Lonely Planet was the best guide that we saw for Turkey. One observation (definitely not a complaint!) was that prices were lower than as listed in the guide. Hotels and pensions were definitely cheaper than what Lonely Planet quoted. We were there in high season and were really pleasantly surprised!

The Varan company is on line at

http://www.varan.com.tr

but it's only one of many companies.

Oh, thank you all so very much! :)

Also got your mail Kathy, thanks heaps!

We leave tonight ... and I'm really excited. I'm looking forward to bargaining ... sounds fun.
