One week trip to Switzerland
We plan to fly in and out of Zurich and visit a friend near Fribourg. Any suggested places and cities we should visit [Zurich, Bern, Luasanne, Geneva] and hotels you would recommend in those cities? Thanks.

Hi Crosby,
I hope you'll forgive my saying this, but I think you have the wrong idea about visiting Switzerland. Switzerland's best is in the countryside, especially her mountains and fields and rolling hills and lakes, etc. Her cities are great, but the countryside is really what makes Switzerland special. So I think you should re-think your plan and try not to focus on "cities." Some mountain areas that are not far from Fribourg are the mountain villages of Wengen, Muerren, & Grindelwald (in the Berner Oberland) or the villages of Gstaad or Chateau d'Oex. Luzern also isn't far from Fribourg, and it sits on a lovely spot near mountains and at the water. Here are some places to start looking at the mountain destinations: www.wengen.com www.wengen.ch www.muerren.ch www.grindelwald.com www.myswitzerland.com www.luzern.org www.gstaad.ch www.chateau-doex.ch Hope this helps! s |
Fribourg is wonderful - medieval, historic and hilly.
Enjoy. |
ditto to the above mentioned and want to add Interlaken.

Hi,
I thought I'd just add my two cents here. I couldn't agree more with swanav2000... which is why I didn't bother to rewrite it on my post. Paul |
I would base in Vevey or Montreux (rather than Lausanne or Geneva) for that part of the country.

Thanks for the helpful advice.

I can recommend the Hotel Savoy Bern.
We just returned from there last week. Great hotel. Within walking distance of train station. Great staff. Nice rooms and A/C |
