One week in Sicily - solo

My first post - thanks for your tips and ideas.

I'm spending a week solo in Sicily in June and wondering what you think of this rough plan. I'll spend two days in Siracuse, 2 days in Taormina/Mt Etna, two days in Palermo from where I fly out, and for another day, would it be nice to stop in Cefalu (on my way to Palermo) or just spend another day around Palermo, like Mondello or Erice?

Thanks!

...Or is it a better idea to just stay another night in Palermo and bus/train it to Cefalu, for example?

I really like Cefalu. Nice beach, wonderful views from "la Rocca", excellent restaurants. Not what you would call exciting, but very pleasant. Quite an easy train journey from Palermo.

Thank you, sounds perfect. I love good eating, the beach and beautiful scenery.

Always keen to hear more ideas :-)

Sicily in a week is tricky as there is so much to see. We stayed there for 2 weeks, and will have to go back a couple more times to see everything we missed.

For me, the highlights were (in no particular order) The Roman mosaics near Enna, The temples at Selinunte and Segeste. The Paolo Rossi Museum of archaeology in Syracuse, The Cathedral at Monreale. The heatre at Taormina. The puppet show in Cefalu (Yes really ! - I didn't want to go, but am so glad I did).

I wrote up my trip impressions - it is at www.microbes.plus.com - click on the Sicily 2005 link. It may be useful to you.

I hope you have a great trip.
