One week in Italy!

Two college females spending the week in Italy. Flying into Rome forsure, but our departure flight has not been booked and will either leave from Pisa or Rome. We want to see the typical Rome tourist stuff and figure if we moved quickly we can get it done in two days. The rest of the time is up in the air. We don't want to try and squeeze in too much and not enjoy our time but yet we want to do as much as possible. Ideally we would visit Sperlonga and Florence. Any tips or advice???

If your flying into Rome forget venice or CT or pisa for that matter. Not that their bad but hey you have a week... If I were you I would spen 1-2 night in rome go to florance 2-3(great base to see tuscany), one night in umbria(assisi- it's incredible once the buses leave) and then back to rome. You can travel on a budget, which my wife and I do- hostels, cheese and bread for lunch and a decent diner, for this plan. Enjoy your trip backpackers see the real europe in my opinion.

Hi D,

>spending the week in Italy....if we moved quickly we can get [Rome] done in two days....We don't want to try and squeeze in too much ...<

This does not compute.

I suggest, at the least, 4 nights in Rome. The other 2 could be Florence.

Fly home from FLR or PSA.

Enjoy your visit.

Don't miss Pompeii and Naples. You can probably book a tour from Rome before you go. If you leave Italy from Pisa it will save having to return all the way to Rome. 3-4 hours is ample to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa and other buildings there. Book the Leaning Tower and Uffizi gallery (Florence) tickets before you go. One full day is enough for Florence (though some like longer) as there is lots to see in Rome. Siena on the way to Florence isn't bad.

With only a week, totally agree with ira. Think you'll find more flight options out of Florence than Pisa.

"We want to see the typical Rome tourist stuff and figure if we moved quickly we can get it done in two days."

You were actually wanting to write "two years", right? That's about what you'd need to get a rough impression of Rome's most important sights...

Good one, Franco. I was going to suggest she meant "two weeks," but your post was better.

That was funny Franco..we have four nights in Rome finally coming up (july) - and I think that is just about right for our first visit.. am sure hoping it will leave me wanting more!
