One way car hire from Bordeaux to girona Spain.

We hope to drive from Bordeaux to girona Spain. I am concerned the penalty will be large for a one way trip. Does anyone know of any way to avoid this. Would flying be an option. The only flights I seem to come up with cost as flights from australia.
Is it feasible to drive as far as we can in France, cross the border by bus or train and then collect another hire car for use in France.
Any help would be much appreciated

Personally to save on money and hassle always

train like a local between city centres best.

seat61.com

although in the past have dobe Renault's Eurodrive

no drop offs cheaper than rental if I am in rural areas.

happy Planning!

You will undoubtedly pay a big fee for recovering the car back to France. Why not fly to Barcelona with Iberia or Vueling, collect your car from there and off you go. Flights appear to be under €100 one way.

I'd get the train....much more fun. There are car hire places at Girona Station.

You won't see much by flying... I'd drive. Simply drop the car in Perpignan and take the train to Barcelona from there. You won't be charged extra for dropping the car elsewhere in France unless you're renting through Hertz or Avis.
