One Sunny Day!
 

Hi all,
We are going to rome for a week tomorrow with our 4 m o baby. Esxcept tomorrow, there is rain everyday! We had a apartment near collesium, and we have the afternoon to ourselves, and we cant decide what to do in our precious afternoon! Can you please sugggest anything? For the rainy days, I am planning the museums; Borghese and such. Any tips? Thanks!

Seriously, I've never let weather, unless it's severe, change much about my touring plans. Wear warm clothing and carry an umbrella. Rain is just water. When it gets to you, go inside a cafe and sip on a coffee and people-watch. And there are enough churches and museums in Rome to keep you occupied indoors for a few years - I don't really see the problem.

Hello Dennise, if I interrupt your post correctly you are asking about the afternoon on the day you arrive in Rome. With a 4 month old baby if the weather is sunny you might think about visiting the Borghese Gardens (not the museums, save that for a rainy day). The Borghese Gardens are so beautiful and relaxing and would be, at least for me, a nice way to unwind after a flight with a baby. I assume you will have a stroller and your little one could sleep while you walk around the gardens. Best regards and enjoy Rome!

if you are staying near the colosseum, it's quite a way to the Borghese gardens, and not much point if it's raining. Why not go down to the Vittoriano [at the end of via nazionale] and view the capitoline museums behind it, or alternatively explore the little streets south of the via nazionale - lots of lovely little shops, cafes and workshops.

don't worry about the rain -the umbrella sellers wil be out in their droves. and of course, the forecast may not be 100% reliable.

Hi Dennise - I don't know where you're looking for your weather forecast.

The one I'm looking at basically says sunny intervals and scattered showers.

Hardly a disaster :)
