Sharon, you have had lots of good recommendations, but most of them are totally impractical. As I understand it, you have three days to spend on the Greek islands between Kusadasi and Athens, and you don't want to waste any of that time on long ferry rides.

Whatever its other attributes, Samos is the closest island to Kusadasi, and it has flights from there direct to Athens Airport. Fires are a problem on most of the heavily wooded islands, but there will be plenty of areas unaffected on Samos. It also has good beaches, so it seems to be the perfect choice for you.

Sharon posted that question in 2001. Someone just picked it up and I got on to ask some questions.

Late May in Oia will be fantastic. The tourists haven't arrived in force yet, so everything's quiet and it's easy to imagine yourself back in time 2000 years. It will be nice and warm in and out of the water. Go and enjoy this one-of-a-kind village on Santorini.
