One night in Roma.

Heeding advice from many Fodorites, I am only spending one night in Rome before I head up to Tuscany to begin my honeymoon (so I don't do too much in too short a period of time). I am booked at The Hotel Julia, near Trevi Fountain. I have been to Rome before, by my future hubby has not. We should be at our hotel by 3-4pm. What would you suggest we do, other than have a nice dinner in a piazza? Also, does anyone know of a book containing a Night Walking Tour of Rome? Please advise, thank you :)

Hotel Julia is on a very quiet street, although 5 minutes from the Trevi Fountain. I do remember one review from people facing the back who said there were early-morning garbage trucks, but my street-facing room was very quiet.

Hotel Julia is definitely not luxurious, but I had a good deal and I liked everything. Read the TripAdvisor reviews to see if you can stand the quirks.

I'd suggest the EnjoyRome tour for night walks of Rome. That would be a good introduction.

I would recommend taking the walk Georgina Masson describes in her Companion Guide to Rome: go to the Capitoline to see the Forum and Colosseum illuminated at night.

I think the night walking tour of Rome that is in Rick Steves' Italy book (or at least it was in an older version of his book) is a good one. You can tweak it or change the direction according to your needs/wants.

Not too far from the Trevi fountain is San Crispino gelateria - yummy flavors like honey and fresh fruit. Ask your hotel; it is a couple of streets from the fountain.

Beware that if you email eileenp, you will no doubt get spammed with her attempts to sell you her jewelry and other items she likes to advertise here -- yea, "restaurant list", indeed.

Can you suggest a better option than Hotel Julia? I don't want to spend more than 150 Euros because all we will do is sleep there for one night. But it is the first night of our honeymoon...

try www.venere.com where you can serach by price range.

Corkee, Hotel Julia is the only hotel I've stayed at in Rome. Maybe someone else has suggestions. I think considering Rome hotel prices, it's a good deal.
