one night in Milan

Hello everyone,
Next May 2006 we will be in Milan for our last night before heading home...arriving by train from Venice, flying out the next morning. Can you recommend a nice area or hotel close to bars, restaurants, shops, etc.

Hello Phyllis, I would get a hotel in the vicinity of the Duome/Galleria/La Scalla Opera House area. You can quickly get to this area by taxi after arriving at the Centrale Train Station. I would give you the name of my favorite hotel but it no longer exsist unfortantly.

I have heard good things about Hotel Gritti near the Duomo, even if I would stay near the station if on the next day you need to go to the airport, but the area around the station is not recommendable especially at night.

Hi Bufftalino,
I tried to find Hotel Gritti on the web, but the only ones listed were in Venice. We need a hotel in Milan.

Or the Spadari al Duomo.

We just came back from Italy and spent the last two nights in Milan at the Dei Cavalieri. It is a large, business type hotel. Rooms were fine, service was excellent. We paid 259E per night for a triple. It is a five minute or less walk to the Duomo and Galleria.

Hi Everyone,

Many thanks for all your recommendation. I was researching most of the weekend, and found one that sounds great and what we are looking for. The hotel I booked is the Grand Hotel Verdi. Has anyone stayed there?
Phyllis
