One Night in Florence-Where?
My son and his fiance will be spending one week in Rome beginning December 29th. They want to take a short trip into Florence, but would like to spend one night there to extend the enjoyment of this excursion. They are both teachers (History and English) on a limited budget. I looked at all of the B&Bs, but there were so many I had no idea of how to proceed, especially since I have not spent a night in Florence myself. I know many places have a requirement of a 3-night stay. Any suggestions of a small, clean place for one night in Florence? I would like to be able to help them out through the connections I have formed on this valuable site. Once again, thanks for all the good help and guidance.

I can highly recommend the Residenza Proconsolo having spent 6 nights there in November 2005. It is located directly behind the Duomo so all of the Historic Center is at your doorstep. The rooms are very nice, large, comfortable beds and modern bathrooms with good hot water. Here are two links. The first is the B&B's website and the second is from florenceby which has very good and accurate pictures and descriptions.

Hi
Depends on your budget. There is B&B Agli Uffizi - http://www.agliuffizi.it. And there is B&B Accademia House - http://www.accademiahouse.com.

Thanks again to all. Tonight I posted all of your responses on this thread to my son and girlfriend. But...is it possible that there are also some hostels in Florence that would be a good deal--since all they basically need is a clean bed and a shower? I looked at a web site, but the number of choices are overwhelming. Anyone have some inside info about hostels in Florence from personal experience? They are both young and very adaptable, and on a limited teachers' buget. Thanks again to all.
