One night in Dublin
We'll be in Dublin for the last night of our trip to Ireland. I'm looking for recommendations for a moderate priced ($100 to $150) hotel (convenient to the airport) suggestions for a place for dinner ($75-$100 for two), a good place to hear local music (for the 30-something crowd) and breakfast the next morning. Thanks for any and all assistance!

You have expensive tastes. I could give you advice if you are doing it the budget way and still make it to the airport on time with about $200 extra in your pocket and have more fun. Let me know.

What time is your flight? If its not too early why not stay in Dublin and get a taxi to the airport?? Check out late rooms.com as they have some good rate on hotels if you book 1-30days before arrival.
Alternatively you could stay in Malahode which is a lovely village not too far from the airport and there are many restaurant from a good pizza place to "gourmet" food. Its a nice place to walk around in the evening and on the water with lovely old georgian houses in the village. Alternatively you could stay at one of the airport hotels and go to a local pub in Swords etc. Few hotels are convenient to the airport without actually staying at the airport. There are more B&B's nearby. |
$100-150 is NOT expensive for a room for two in the city center of Dublin. It is closer to the low end unless you get there when tourism is way down. You can, of course, stay in a hostel for probably E15-25 pp per night.

My fault, I didn't word that too carefully. I was actually thinking of staying in Dublin as our flight out isn't until 1:15 the next day. I guess everything is relatively convenient to the airport if you're taking a cab.
I'm familiar with the Jury's Christ Church, as I stayed there several years ago. (I hope I have the correct name) My real interest is in staying in a part of town where good restaurants and music are nearby, without spending $300 on the hotel. Thanks again. |
We just booked the Fitzwilliam Hotel in Dublin, overlooking St. Stephen's Green, an excellent location and a lovely, high-end hotel. The "almost unbelievable rate" (that's what it's called) is $149 for two, per night. Normally, the rate is well over $200.

I am always surprixed that more postrs do not recommend Grafton House in Dublin
This is a guethouse located on south Great Georges Street...within a dhort walk is Templebar, Grafton St. Sublin Castle, etc. Rates for 2002 were 45 euro pp. It is excellant in every way |
