One night in Canterbury
 

Hello all,

My husband and I have one night in Canterbury before we take the Chunnel to Paris. I need accommodations in a nice place, hopefully under 75 pounds. Do any of you have suggestions?

Also, while I'm at it, any favorite accommodations in Paris (Latin Quarter or Eiffel Tower area w/ view of tower) around 100 - 125 Euro? So far, I'm looking @ the Hotel Muguet.

In its site www.cathgate.co.uk/ the Cathedral Gate Hotel shows double rooms at 38 to 88 pounds a night. There is a good description with pictures at www.s-h-systems.co.uk/hotels/cathedra.html/.

The Falstaff Hotel is at the West Gate: www.english-inns.co.uk/Falstaff-Canterbury/
But a double costs 100 pounds a night.

The County Hotel is in the centre: asiahotels.net/englandhotels/canterbury-hotels/ county-hotel-canterbury.php3/, but a twin room is 103 pounds

All are fifteenth century buildings. The Cathedral Gate hotel was built as the Dinne inn fir pilgrims. You can find more recent hotels, cheaper, outside the walls, but with only one night I think you want to be right there where the Romans were.

try excelsiorlatin.com for a room in the latin q. we stayed at a hostel in canterbury and would not recommend it.

There's a lovely small village about 5 miles outside Canterbury called Chilham (on the A20) I don't know if the pub there rents out rooms or if you could find a B and B but it's a lovely place to visit.
